#WalkOut this May for National Walking Month
At Northshore, we’re inviting you to join us in celebrating National Walking Month this May.
Today marks the first day of Living Streets’ National Walking Month. This year, the campaign highlights the benefits of walking for women and encourages women to #WalkOut - getting outside for a walk each day in May for their own wellbeing.
Women are more likely to make multi‑purpose journeys, often combining school drop‑offs, caring responsibilities and errands into a single trip. Living Streets is encouraging women to take time to walk for themselves, focusing on enjoyment and wellbeing.
Walk to School Week also takes place during National Walking Month (18–22 May). This year’s challenge, #MissionMove, encourages children to walk, wheel, cycle or scoot to school every day of the week. You can check with your child’s school to see if they’re taking part - and if they’re not yet registered, it’s not too late to get involved.
For local walking support, the Stockton‑on‑Tees Active Travel Hub, located on the High Street, offers free, practical support to help you travel more actively.
